I have heard good things about foobar2000 but never tried it. Personally I stick with Winamp... what's your beef with it, I'm curious?

i have found BSPlayer to be a fantastic player for video files. keep in mind that subs dont work with winamp video. also, i would dump real player and go download "Real Player Alternative", as it works very well and avoids all that stupid real player crap

Try Media Player Classic. It plays most formats, including Windows Media (wmv and asf) as well as Apple formats, DIVX, et cetera. Also it doesn't have all the annoying baggage that comes with Windows Media Player and Quicktime.

I'm now using mpc, thanks to thrax, and love it. Less bells and whistles (graphic-wise) but much more functional.

Right now i have wmp, winamp, mpc w/ quick and real alternative.....

I have tried eveything from foobar, crystal, musicmatch, itunes, etc...

My favorite was this thing i think called "tiny music player" which was super simple and minimized to the taskbar when not selecting a track or playlist. It was like 115kb and used no system resources....now i can't find it though
