Here we are chaps-

Todd Hollenshead, id's chief executive, said Doom 3 will require:

• A 1.5-gigahertz Intel Pentium 4 chip or AMD Athlon 1500.
• 384 megabytes of memory.
• Two gigabytes of hard drive space.
• An nVidia GeForce 3 graphics card or better; or an ATI Technologies 8500 or better.

Well, this could be interesting. I'm not touching my system except maybe moving up to 1 gig ram, can't afford a vid card, thats for sure....

Less someone is looking for a softmodded 9500 ;)

Those are minimum, aren't they? I'm sure you're going to want much more than that to fully enjoy the game.

ok.. so lets take a look:

A 1.5-gigahertz Intel Pentium 4 chip or AMD Athlon 1500.
Got a 3200+ Athlon 64. Should be ok
    384 megabytes of memory.
    Got a a gig
Two gigabytes of hard drive space.
    Plenty of hard drive space
An nVidia GeForce 3 graphics card or better; or an ATI Technologies 8500 or better.
    Got a 9800xt

Yep. All good for high detail :D

I'm scared... I want Doom 3 to run good on my computer...but I don't know if my video card will be able to handle it... *freaked out*

    ATI Radeon 9600 XT

I know I meet the requirements...but those are set to at least run the game...quality is not factored... =(

    Everything else is fine:

    Pentium 4 2.8 GHz
    768 MB RAM (I'm so ghetto...I don't have a gig...)
    138 GB Hard Drive space

    Is Doom 3 going to run like poo on my computer...? ; ;

Like poo? I seriously doubt it. You won't be able to max out all the eye candy at 1600x1200 or whatever, but you should be fine for 1024x768/medium detail. The best policy is to wait for the game to come out, try it, and if you're not happy with your video card, upgrade it then. No sense in upgrading now.

OK then I meet all that, barely with the vid card tho.

I can hardly believe it will only need 2Gb of HDD space tho. I would think with all the prettiness it would take up like 4-5GB.

Sweet! Thanks for the input! It helped me out! =)

(I was actually contemplating buying the new card before I got the game.)

Dammit. Now I'm really scared. My problem isn't my own computer. I know I'll be able to play it just fine. My problem is my friend's computers. One is a 1.7 P4, 512 mb, R7500. The other has a 1.8 celly, 256 mb, R9000. Well, I think now I can be pretty sure they're gonna gangbang me for my computer. :bawling: ;D

I'm pretty much looking forward to seeing how well it'll run on my rig...I'm hoping my rig is up and running by then. I've seen the leaked demo running on a few pc's with GF4 TI's and it was pretty jerky but that was an alpha that wasn't polished but it still makes me wonder how good the game will look to run smoothly on the minimum system listed.
