Dial Up On Startup, How?

Basically, I want my ADSL dial up connection to initialize and connect automatically upon system startup, and if possible to do the same thing upon hibernate resume.

Currently upon any form of startup, I have to manually activate the dial up connection to connect to the internet. Or at least load a program like IE up, for it to connect.

I imagine it means setting it up as a service, but I'm not exactly sure how to do that with a dial-up connection of this sort.

Anyone have any experience in this area?

Thanks in advance.

or just add a shortcut to the connection to your startup folder.

Yes, but that would only load the 'dial' or 'connect to' window. I would still have to click dial. Even if the auto-connect is enabled, that doesn't apply to a manual launch of the dial up connection. That only applies through the program initiation dial up mirror. (e.g when internet explorer launches it)

Well for starters you could put IE in the startup folder... hmm... I know there are programs that can do things like this though.

So it's a DSL connection that needs to be "dialed" (PPP authenticated) right?

    A router! :)

If you need ports open to the world then don't use DHCP and forward the necessary ports to whatever IP you chose inside your LAN. 192.168.2.3, or whatever. This is probably the best option if you plan on adding any computers in the future, plus it helps keep out unwanted traffic because the router will block it.

Here's a program I found on download.com. I tried it out and it looks good, as well as fairly lightweight. It sounds like if you just leave it running it will dial the connection whenever it isn't there.
