Need help with problems

Ive been having quite a few problems with my computer in the last month. We have taken it to be repaired but some how the problems keep coming back. The main problem is that we have 2 accounts on this computer and my account is set up as the computer administrator, last time when this happend it was a virus. But my side always runs almost normal with a few pop up and the other side wont even open up our homepage but it will run AIM. When you try to get on explorer it redirects you from MSN to incredifind.com. The only thing that frustrates me on my side besides the occasional pop up is that zero-knowledge freedom firewall keeps poping up when I start up the computer and we never had that on here until 2 days ago. I got hijackthis and see some suspicious idems but Im kind of hessitant to remove anything that Im not sure of. Any help would be greatly appriciated.

also have you ran adware and spybot search and destroy yet
  • edited July 2004
The person who repaired it the first time deleted search and destroy off our computer and told us there was something better called spykiller. And since then it seems like we have more problems. It came up a couple days ago and started running a spyware search. It showed a ton of spyware and I deleted those and restarted the comp as it said but nothing changed.

That file is the backup for HiJackThis. You need to place HiJackThis in its own folder (C:\HJT, for example) so there's a place to save the backups.

Please post a fresh log so we can see if anything else needs taking care of.

You still have new.net in there.

Zero Knowledge Freedom is an anti-virus/firewall program, but I'm not sure about its legitimacy. You have Norton AV on your machine. I would uninstall Freedom and go with NAV and get yourself the free version of ZoneAlarm for your firewall.

i was told that if u have a router that u dont need a fire wall...is this correct?

A router will protect you from inbound attacks, but if something gets onto your system, you should have a software firewall to protect you from anything malicious that might try to "phone home." I use a router and a software firewall. Some say it's good to have both, some say the router is enough, but I subscribe to the "you can never be too safe" school of thought.
