Help me I'm an idiot!

Hi All!

Here we go ...
Yesterday whilst tracking down some spyware called "Monkey Share".
My utility told me that part of it would have to be removed manually. I tracked it down in the registry and deleted it.
Yup.... I forgot to back-up the regisry,something I realized two seconds after deciding to re-boot.
Now when it boots the fonts are unreadable. They a bunch of symbols and shapes.
Everything else appears okay,I can navigate around by recognizing certain icons.
I tried system restore, it told me that it could not restore to the point because nothing had changed... oh really!
Anyone got a clue what I should do?
XP Home/SP1 (on a recovery disk,not full version)
Dell 8300..2.6 Ghz P-4... 1 GB PC 3200 DDR... 80/60 GB HDD

spybot and some of the other spyware removers actually make a registry backup.

Or have you tried a restore point farther back even? Try a week or two even.

I tried all restore points.I manually deleted the registry folder. Besides i cannot read anything because of the font change.

Time for a Windows XP installation in repair mode. Have you done that before? It's actually pretty easy; and it preserves your settings and and unique data.

check the fonts folder, you may have somehow deleted all the fonts and just need to put them back in. that is if you can read the folder names otherwise, you can try to change the fonts in use through the display properties.

It's XP home Leo and home doesnt have the repair install. I hate XP home
