mysearchnow help

I have mysearchnow on my computer. I tried OmegaKillerSM, Norton AntiVirus, Hijack Blaster, and ZeroSpyware Lite. Non of them were able to remove it. Hijack Blaster and OmegaKillerSM were able to detect my home page had been altered and Hijack Blaster detected that i had a BHO added, but couldn't get rid of it. Does anybody know how to get rid of this mother ****er?

I Had Exactly The Same Thing. Mysearchnow.com Was Always On My Computer And I Never Knew How To Get Rid Of It Until I Came Here.

Mysearchnow.com Has Been Removed From My Computer (thank God) But I'm Not To Sure What Got Rid Of It. I Have 'spyware Blaster' Which I Think Helped Remove The Hijacker. So Try Downloading It.

hey there, could you please post your HJT log, OmegaKiller should have gotten rid of it, but we cant tell what the infection is without seeing a log.

alrighty, you have a lot of other problems besides mysearchnow, lets take this one step at a time.... while you have already run several programs, the main two that you should run are spybot S&D, and adaware, this thread will give you all the instructions you need to download, update and run these two programs.

when youve run those two run the LSP-Fix program, found on the downloads page where spybot and adaware are.

finally, post an updated log after doing all this, and we'll take it from there.
  • edited July 2004
I used Spybot S&D and then Ad-aware 6.0. I updated them both b4 using. Spybot said it was able to get rid of all except 2 problems, then adaware said it got rid of everything it found. I used LSP Fix but it didn't find ne thing to delete. I opened my browser after that and i didn't get the second window opening (idk if that only opens once every startup or what) but i still have that damned blue search bar up top. NE ways here is my new log.

Yep, you've got a lot of stuff going on in there. Does anyone use your PC besides you? If they're the cause of your woes, ban them from your PC for life.

Boot into safe mode and delete the following:

    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page =
    R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = http://ie.redirect.hp.com/svs/rdr?TYPE=3&tp=iehome&locale=EN_US&c=Q304&bd=pavilion&pf=laptop
Not a spyware redirect per se, but why let HP decide what your homepage is?

I am gonna make a new thread. I uninstalled a portion of my internet explorer and have a completely different set of **** on here. I think I probably should just reinstall windows, but i want to fight this instead.
  • edited July 2004
I have mysearchnow installed on my computer. I hate this ****er and want it gone. I have used some software and have been given help by the ppl here. RIGHT NOW, when i open internet explorer, I am sent to http://mysearchnow.com/passthrough/index.html?http://www.msn.com/ I changed that in my internet options. I also have a second window pop up holding search options. something keeps wanting to reset my search page. I also reset it ion my registry. I accidently deleted my search page, so if ne body can tell me what the default search page for msn is, i would like that. I dont notice ne thing else. I don't know what the **** is going on, and i'm planning on reinstalling my os. that shouldn;t void warranty since i needed to install everything when i bought it. ne ways... here is my HJT log

Click the link in my sig for the Security Downloads page. Download LSP Fix and put it in the same folder as HJT.

Reboot in SAFE MODE. Run HJT, and FIX:

Next, run the LSP Fix program., and fix the LSP errors listed above (010 indicators.)

Reboot normally, and let us know how it looks.

well, I'm in safe mode. I used HJT and got rid of everything except the 010 LSP files. When I open the LSP-Fix, the top of the page says Winsock 2 Repair Utility. In the Keep box, i have:

    File Description
    mswinsock.dll Tcpip
    winrnr.dll NTDS
    idmmbc.dll (Protocol Handler)
    rsvpsp.dll (Protocol Handler)

In the Remove box, i don't have anything. I don't wan't to remove any of that withought you telling me what to do since i know mswinsock probably shouldn't be removed. And that there are four in that list when i have five 010 in the HJT list.

I also want to mention that this is a laptop that is equiped with Wireless LAN, Network, and Phone Jack internet connections available. I haven't used the wireless yet cause i haven't been around a hotspot. I just figure that this might be of importance.

Kule man. I guess them 010 LPS bitches were it. It worked. I would like to make sure though, is there any software on y computer that caused that to open, or was it the strings that kept opening **** from the 'net?
Another thing is that I am good with software and hardware. I was wondering how you learned what you know. I would LOVE to be able to learn that stuff.
    Anyways, thankyou VERY MUCH.

Also, download Spyware Blaster from our Security downloads page, run it, and update it often. It will not prevent everything, but it will help.
