Accessing Outlook archives w/o setting up server

I grabbed my archive and outlook.pst files before reformatting my computer so I could restore them and thereby keep all my filed e-mails.

My problem is this: I can't access the archives until I set Outlook up again. Outlook refuses to work AT ALL until it successfully connects to my college's Exchange server. I can't get to my college's server because I'm in Vermont and the firewall here is preventing a VPN connection.

I'm hoping to have the firewall issue resolved in a day or two, but being the impatient bugger that I am I'd really like to get at my archives since there is information there that is preventing me from progressing on a project I'm working on.

Is there anyway to access my .pst files without reaching the server? (you'd think MS might've included that functionality... :buck: How ironic is it that I can't get to local archives without a VPN connection?)

Try setting up bogus POP3 and SMTP servers then import your outlook.pst.

I was trying that, but it was throwing an error message when I removed the Exchange server about not having a place to put the files. Seems straight-forward enough now that I had to create a private folder "service" but a few mintues ago it didn't occur to me. Thanks mate, I got 'em open :)
