    3d audio is noticeably improved.

I mix-and-matched the 2.54 with the 2.44 IDE drivers, and everything is peachy.

Is this okay for Asus, or do I still need a seperate driver?
  • edited July 2003
Yes, although some have recommended reinstalling Winblows if you have already installed manufacturer specific drivers.

I tried running the install program. I get the Nvidia logo, the installshield is setting up, but when it finishes...nothing happens! What gives?

Make sure you've un-installed the previous ones, you could also try installing them in safe mode.

OK, I went into Safe Mode to try and install it, but I got the same problem. I went into add remove programs to make sure all the previous drivers were uninstalled (audio, control panel, nforce drivers) and restarted..but now none of ports work! Keyboard and mouse are dead after windows starts up. Keyboard works for getting into CMOS but after that nothing! My computer is now completely useless. I tried using a PS/2 mouse but still nothing. I'm using an Epox 8RDA+. Any ideas?

Try installing an older set of the drivers, also try a system restore before anything else. You may have to manually go through device manager and uninstall some of the nForce controller drivers one by one, and hope it sorts it self out upon a restart.

Does the mouse and keyboard work in safe mode?

If someone would like to take the time, it would be helpful to specify exactly what devices/drivers should be removed before drivers upgrade. It should be fairly uniform for NF2 boards, shouldn't it?

Not really, they just went back to IDE In-the-box 2.70 (WHQL), slower than SW but totally stable.

This instructions may help you a little.

Thank you very much, kind Sir. BTW, I got the replacement BIOS chip and got my NF2 system running again. (When I find the appropriate thread, I'll post about it.)

I tried all manner of things, including contacting Epox tech support (very helpful) but the problem couldn't be resolved. I've slapped in my venerable KX7-333R while I decide what to do next.

Did you try a re-install of the OS before you swapped out the boards?

It was a windows problem, but I can't find my XP Pro CD, so I'm out of luck. This epox board had been giving me USB problems now and again, but never this bad. I'm thinking buying a new one in anycase.
