Sempron vs. tBred
A cheap friend of mine wants me to build them a computer. And as far as cheap processors go, you really can't beat the prices of the Semprons or tBreds.
At my local computer shop, I can either get a tBred B 2000+ or a Sempron 2400 for the same price (~$80 CDN). The motherboard I have chosen will support both, and the max FSB is 166.
Should I get the tBred and oc to 166fsb, or throw in a stock Sempron?

To keep with my friends cheap nature, I am planning on using the stock cooling w/ a bit of AS5.
Sempron will therefore edge out the XP due to the faster FSB.
$49 for a CPU AND MB of this type is outrageous and spending another $25 to $30 on a HSF is not needed.
I actually have the cpu in question and it is running a hsf I pulled off a old 1000 Athlon because it was running hot and on the Sempron its hitting 34 degrees at idle with some mid-range thermal grease. Not everyone needs to OC and you can get outrageous deals on these CPU's right now. Just slap it together and forget about it. 2/3's the box's I build for customers are guys doing a little MS Office and mostly surfing the web and these babies run fine for that.
rhino I'll get you one of the $49 specials and ship it to you in Canada with it marked as a gift if you want. Frys's has them about three days a week right now. I have one sitting here I can ship ya.
