whats the difference?
i can't buy on newegg,i have to buy from a shop,physically.
shopkeeper don't know anything.so i need to see for myself.
is there anything(features) written on the box that would indicate if the mobo has good oc options or not?
The box should say NF7-S with like a green sticker or something indicating it's a NF7-S version 2.0. I can't tell you what the NF7-SL box looks like.
That link I attached from Newegg has a picture of the NF7-S box. Newegg only offers a NF7-S2 and a NF7-SG. Neither of which have the Soundstorm of the NF7-S. Even Abit's own site doesn't list a NF7-SL, so I can't tell you what that is.
I see, SL for slow.
And Noman, don't get the NF7-S2 either.
Even if you happen to find an older NF7-S that is 1.2 or latter it is fine.
But to see that you may need to open the box and read the sticker on the mobo.
Neither of my boxes have rev numbers on the lables.
guys,
the shopkeeper told me that,on the chipset their is written nf7-s
one more thing... most of the boards have softmenuIII? wouldn't all of those oc equally?... simple nf7..without sata and raid, could that oc good?
i myself would recomend an ASUS board, i them, and to let you know keep an eye out for that chipset fan if your computer starts acting up ( restarting, freezing ) check that immediatly
just to throw my opinion in, i suggest the A7N8X, but i like intel too so u ca make ur own mind

If you go with anything other than the nf7-s v2.0 I think you'll be dissappointed with the oc-ability IMO ...
If you want to pursue even further you can go to this forum http://forum.abit-usa.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=26 and start a thread. This is where I've found the most info on all of the boards you are interested in. It is abit-usa's own nvidia chipset forum and many ppl there are experienced with all of those boards.
Not that this thread isn't still working ...I just thought you might want a variety input if you aren't in too much of a hurry.
ok..
but what is the difference? the listed features seem to be same.
what thing determines oc'ability? just for knowledge...
and as for asus.. its quite expensive,.i could also get msi k7n2...do u guys know abt this msi one?
The problem with the SL is that it wasn't built to handle 200 fsb, so pushing even higher could be a big problem.
Often it is the additional equipment that limits OC, not just the primary chipset. The NF7-S rev2 has shown to be a very reliable overclocker. Some of the older boards, rev 1.2 and 1.3 did OK too, but not as solid.
It's a redesigned NF7-S v2 with none of the v.X/S/SL confusion.
The AN7 is great, but it had some teething problems. A BIOS release in July fixed most of the issues, but there is still some silly little problems with CPU detecting and automatic memory speed settings. I've had two come under my noes, and both have had the same issues. Not a problem if you know what you're doing, but not the best ABIT straight out the box I've seen.

Why ...thank you Thrax!
I figured that would be the general concensus of this panel!
