more TI4200 questions

edited September 2004 in Hardware
Well if you didn't read my previous post, to make a long story short I had a TI4200 and the heatsink fell off in the case. I cleaned everything, used artic silver and put everything back together. Now when I put the card in I get a picture, but their are 4 thick diagonal green lines down the screen. I got it to boot once with a normal picture, but run anything 3d and it craps out. I am assuming the card is dead, anything else I can try??

After reading the first post I'm afraid you're probably spot on in your assesment. The card is likely damaged beyond repair. If you put the AS on in a good thin layer and the sink is touching evenly all the way across the GPU then I doubt there's much more you can do aside from finding a replacement which shouldn't be terribly expensive on ebay and giving it a full burial with honors.
    Good luck.

I'm going to agree with madmat. Sorry about your luck. You could pick up a nice shiny new 6800GT. :)

well I already have a 6800 GT, awesome card, this card was in my Fiance's comp. :) I will probably just get her another 4600, I think that is the best 4X AGP card you can get if I am not mistaken...

the best 4x agp card you can get is the 6800 Ultra or X800XT-PE; Any AGP 8x card is AGP 4x compatible.
