PC-DL Deluxe overclocking

Anyone have any links to guides on how to get 200MHz FSB out of this thing? The board is all set up and running, and it POSTs at the maximum speed for the board & CPUs (3.5GHz; 21x165) but won't load windows at that speed.

So I need to find a guide to get 200MHz FSB out of this thing. Also, is there any way to mod it to change the vcore?

Oh, and finally, are there any better OCing dual xeon boards out there?

There's a massive thread on the PC-DL at 2cpu's forums, Geeky. Just be prepared to go through it for a few hours (or maybe days :eek3: ).

hmm. I'll look into it, but I'm seriously tempted to sell the board...

Geeky, can't you downward adjust the multipliers on Xeons?

Yes; the problem is the board- the BIOS won't let you set a FSB higher than 165, and there's no VCore adjustment. I know these CPUs will hit 3.5GHz in the right board- they'll POST at 21x165 in the PC-DL, but they won't boot at that speed due to the lack of vcore adjustment.

I'm sure that you should be able to pinmod a higher vcore for those Xeon's. Just read around; I'm sure in that thread or that website I linked to should give you some guidance on pinmodding a higher vcore. Pinmodding the socket with a fine gauge wire shouldn't be hard for a young guy with good eyes like you; hell, I can do it if I take my time and I have old, tired eyes. ;D

300 pages or $350 for an Iwill PH800, with a $150 rebate in the form of the sale of a PC-DL. I'll take the $200 mobo.

That being said, I'm going to do some poking around first. See what I can find.

Mudd: yeah, I probably could pinmod the sockets, but I'd rather not do that. It's easier to pay $200 for a board with vcore adjustments. I'm hoping there's a modified BIOS out there for the PC-DL that'll enable this stuff...
