I bought a g-force 2 off a friend for a new file server Im building. It doesnt have any cooling, not even a passive heatsink. Is that bad? The guy who I bought it off of said it never came wih one out the box. Should I get a passive cooler for it?

I wouldn't worry about it. The video card isn't even going to be doing anything if it's just a file server. I have tons of crappo cards like that in my servers and whatnot, all "naked" chips....

I would cool it. I've only ever seen one GF2 without at least a heatsink, and that's a Compaq card. And that system was exceptionally flaky. Better to just cool the damn thing and not have to worry about it.

Yeah, just glue a small heatsink on with AS adhesive at least. GF2 gpu's do put out a fair amount of heat so I would at least passively cool it.
