firefox borked???

I installed the latest version of firefox a while ago (probably like 2-3 days after it came out) ... and I was happy
but then,
As part of my research into the OmegaSearch infections, I ran the new uninstaller that the provided - and all my bookmarks were toasted ... gone, completely, do not pass go, do not collect $200.
needless to say I was a little pissed, but put it down to the removal tool, and have spent the last few days rebuilding my massive bookmark list..
then today, I rebooted my rig for the first time in a lonng long time, and lo and behold - all bookmarks gone again ... anyone else have this happen, and regardless, anyone know how to restore firefox bookmarks??? it seems theyre store in an xml file, so if the file is edited, theyre gone, no home of undelete ..

edit:// should also add, all my themes are gone, and all preferences including start page, and cookies etc ...

Just thought I'd let you know...
Maybe you should delete your entire \documents and settings/username/application data/mozilla folder. I remember back in the Netscape 4 days there would sometimes be corruptions going on in there and profiles would get screwed up. You should save your bookmarks offline, and then delete the profile folder entirely. Hell, delete ALL mozilla-related items, uninstall firefox, and then start from scratch with a brand new profile.
gonna try a reboot or two etc and see if all is well..

I feel for you. That really would be a pain rebuilding bookmarks. I've got some that go back years.
Then it told me version 1.0 was out and I upgraded, haven't had the problem since. I just figured it to be some kinda fluke.
