using compact flash for hd?

I was looking at this firewall app thats like smoothwall but uses less space and can add wireless. It says you can use compact flash intead of a hd, but isnt there only som many writes before it fails? Just curious about the reliablity

    you get a few thousand flashes out of most common ones. There are industrial grade that are supposed to be good for a few million flashes.

    Not very, especially if you have a swapfile on them.

    Yep. Supposed to be a 100 or 200,000 erases (rewrites) but if you had an application that didnt WRITE to it you would be OK.

    But you can buy a 120gb hard drive for the price of a 1gb flash drive. Actually less but...

    well this firewall app only needs like 8mb to save setting. Then reads the settings off the card then loads the rest in ram
