2400+, 2500+, or 2600+

Which will perform the best for everyday computer useage and also some pretty heavy gaming? I know the 2400+ is 170Mhz faster then the barton, and the 2600+ is 250Mhz faster then the barton.

Will the barton easily outperform both or would both the 2400+ and 2600+ outperform the barton? If the 2400+ and 2600+ outperform the barton how much of a performce difference is there between the two?

I want to know which one to ask for as a birthday gift :) My birthday is the 25th.

...is for the Barton 2500+. My dad just had me rebuild his computer using that CPU and it is a hot rod. My daughter has a 2100+ and my niece has a 2000+. The Barton cache makes it seem much faster than the 400-500 PR rating difference would lead you to expect.

Of course, it may also depend a great deal on what kind of programs you will be running.

The 2500+ overclocks to 2.2-2.3GHz+, and at stock speeds, it's a bit slower than a 2600, and a bit faster than a 2400 (as it's PR implies :D)

    Definitely!

In apps that are not very sensitive to the cache difference of the TBred and the Barton, the higher MHz TBred is the easy choice. In apps where the cache makes a noticeable difference, the Barton might be enough to overcome its MHz deficit.

I'd probably go w/ a Barton and overclock it to get the best of both: cache and speed! :D:D:D

Except 2600+ speed is about 250Mhz short of its actual potential.
