New Folding@Home Flash Video

This thing has been screaming to get out of my head for the past 3 months, and I finally gave up on Monday night and sat down to start on it. Four late nights, and I'm all done :D

I designed it to be team-neutral, so that anyone can use it. I just put a little Short-Media credit at the bottom of the last frame.

The swf file is 2.84 mb and is embedded in this web page:

http://www.teamshort-media.com/videos/foldflash2.html

The exe file is 3.66 mb and can be downloaded by right-click/save-as on this link:

http://www.teamshort-media.com/videos/foldflash2.exe

Apologies for the size, but not really  I didn't want to drop the sound quality, because I think that is what really makes the video. I hope you all enjoy it and find it useful in your recruiting :)

May I be the first to say: VERY cool!

I'll show it to my friends tomorrow, hopefully THIS will convince them to fold.

    ...For us??

I haven't had a webpage set up for over a year, but I may have to do so now, just to get this out. :D

    Superb! Brava Bravi Bravo!

Now... take it down & change it. Make our Short-Media Team #93 clickable.

I think that'd be discrete enough, how about the rest of you?

Incidentally, at 6pm CST update, I'll hit a Cog... assuming that the protein hit right. Not bad for one guy, one box, eh? :D:fold::D

Keebs, great work. The video is very well done.

My only criticism: is that a Mac? You gotta be kidding me... those things probably fold slower than P4s!

Yeah, I'd actually thought of that. I guess it would just go to the main page. It means redoing that whole last frame though and I was a bit impatient at 5am last night to get it live. I'll replace it when I get a chance.

shhhh... now why you gotta be down on the Macs? :p Seriously, it's just because that's the only computer in my office that didn't have the tower tucked under the desk. I wanted a full system shot. Plus, the power button is more easily identifiable than it is on the other systems.

I'll let the esteemed author speak for himself, but one thing which occurs to me is this:
People with AIDS generally die of something else, like pneumonia or cancer. F@H research may not cure AIDS, but it might help alleviate the killer diseases people with AIDS die from.:fold:

great animation. I used to be climbing the ranks in team 93 before the whole icrontic going away thing happened then I sort of fell out of it, but that convinced me to get F@H running back on my computer....now I gotta see if I can get it back running on all my friends comps :)

Outstanding. No other way to say it.

It's the simple elegance that makes it so effective for me: clear text that scrolls smoothly with the engaging beat of the music. Superb choice of music and implementation - how it builds in intensity verty subtlely.

Outstanding. The first time I watched it my eyes started watering.

This is a tremendous effort, but the jokester in me can't be still too long. Every time I see the picture of the old gentleman walking along (with the "Alzheimer's" caption) I can't help but mentally insert one of those cartoon thought balloons reading - "Now where did I leave that cane..."

By the way, I'm dealing with such a situation in my own family. Sometimes it helps to laugh about it. :)

Now, back to some serious Folding.:fold:

    Thanks FC and Leo :)

Prof, yes, I know what you mean. My family used to get good laughs out of my grandfather as he declined into dementia. Allowing yourself to be amused by things like him mistaking the dog's name for my sister's is the only way to get through it.

On the subject of the video, I think the best way to deal with the proposed link at the end would to have it lead to a second (much shorter) video pimping the team :) Who's putting a pot of coffee on for me so I can finish this before classes start Monday? :p
