ACCORDING TO <a href="http://www.amdboard.com" target=_balnk>AMDBOARD, still-kicking-about PC maker Gateway is ready to start selling AMD-powered PCs again and may well do so with the launch of the Athlon 64 on September 23.

Monsieur Gilles at AMDBoard says he has seen confidential AMD documents suggesting as much, but has been speculating on the date of the deal.

The agreement is likely to extend to Opteron chips as well as AMD’s 64-bit desktop offerings, says Gilles, here. Documents we have seen suggest Gateway nemesis Dell isn't on the same list. µ

I hope they do, since AMD needs the kind of publicity that comes with having a large OEM pushing their stuff..

Absolutely. It would be nice to see the letters A-M-D show up in some of those four-page ads in the computer magazines, not to mention TV. :)

I doubt it. Even HP/Compaq doesn't even mention that you can have an AMD processor in its laptops in their catalogues.
