CWShredder v2.00 update

edited November 2004 in Science & Tech
I recently updated CWS to v2.00. The message claimed that CWS has been bought by Intermute Inc. My previous version of CWS has always come back with clean scans. My first and all subsequent scans with this update finds these same 2 entries every time - CWS.Jksearch and CWS.HiddenDll. These are found and removed supposedly but reappear each time I run CWS even after rebooting.
I went to Intermute's support page and emailed the information. They responded with this message - "Response (Matt) 10/22/2004 10:23 AM
Please download a trial of InterMute's powerful spyware detection and removal solution.
See http://www.intermute.com/spysubtract for more information.
Click on the CWShredder icon in SpySubtract, then do a full system scan. Let me know if you still have the issue."
Now I don't know a whole lot, but this smells really fishy! I go from a clean system to unfixable problems as soon as I update to a newer version that can't fix them unless I download the takeover company's $30 removal tool?! C'mon! This sounds like a classic case of bait and switch to me!

CWShredder was indeed bought by InterMute, but they are still offering it as a free product. The SpySubtract program is a pay product, and of course InterMute will use CWS to shill its other products.

No, I'd say you do know alot 'cause you were hip enough to share that dope with us.

Man I hate the word "solution" when used by a digital salesperson. I just get such a bad feeling. It's like "Oh we have the solution, we are so cool and knowing and so much more superior to you and your problem" I wouldn't mind except about 95% of all "solutions" either don't work, create more problems or are a repack of something that someone else is doing for free or at least with a more humble attitude.

Sorry for the rant, it's past my bedtime
