bestfriends.scr removal

i read the guide to removing the bestfriends.scr and i was having no luck. in fact i got all the way to deleting it and it kept saying "could not locate file" so i rebooted in normal mode and i found that my internet has stopped conecting. HUGE problemo. i'm completely stumped and i'm not really a computer persone which adds to the confusion...if anyone can help me it would be GREATLY appreciated! thanks!
