I found my new case!

Okay guys and gals, I think i have found the new case I want, I have been looking at cases for the past couple weeks and couldn't decided on which one I wanted. My current case is a Lian Li PC-60 Aluminum Case and I love it to death, I'm just ready for somethign new, this case has seen 3 motherboards, 2 processors, 4-5 CD-Roms/DVD-Roms, 4 different sticks of ram, 3 PSU, and who knows how many hard-drives. I got this bad boy when it first hit the market. It was like $270 or something. But anyways I was really really happy with Lian Li's case and I knew that my next case was gonna be a Lian Li, I didn't want some piece of crap case covered with plastic decorations and a pre-built window (no offense to those people that have them cases), so I decided on the Lian Li PC-V1000, which is a BTX formfactor. http://www.xoxide.com/lianlipcv1000.html
Like I said I've loved my Lian Li and I don't plan on going with anything else, but I was just alittle curious if anyone here has this case or know anyone who has this case and what they think about it.

yeah that thing is a beast
  • edited November 2004
It's not really BTX though, the case uses standard ATX mobo's just inverted so that the access side is on the right instead of the left (as you look at the case "front") and the CPU in in the lower part of the case.
I don't know if that case will be convertable to BTX when those boards are available though I'm sure that a quick email to their customer service people could shed light on the situation.
All that said I do think it's a pretty sweet case and I've been interested in hearing what the owners of them think too.

Lian-LI is the best case manufacturer ever
i was thinking fo getting one of these cases but

    there kinda expensive

Yeah they are expensive, but i've had mine for 3+ years and it's been great for me. It's quality I'm willing to pay for. Another nice thing about these cases is they are extremely light. It helps make up for my 80 pound 21" monitor when going to lan parties. But yeah I think I'm goign to order it tonight, cant wait.

Meh. I don't like Lian-Li cases. The few I've worked on I've found to be poorly built, poorly cooled, and just generally not very well engineered. I think you'd be happier with a Coolermaster CM Stacker or something along those lines...

Well everyone has their own opnions Geeky, but in this case yours doesnt matter :p

lol from what I've seen they are good and I've never had any problems with them as far as cooling goes.

    :wtf:
You wanted to know what people thought of the case, but only if they agree with you huh?

*shrug* Get it if you want. It's still not that great of a case, especially considering how much it costs.

I would gladly pay that if my wholesalers could get it for less then $420 canadian. But i wouldnt wana pay shipping to get it shiped from the states.

I love the concept of the new "value" line of cases and I've considered buying that same case you are looking at.
If I had to look for a downside to it though ...I think it would have to be the from the dust bunny potential. Who knows it may not be enough cfm to cause problems at all. Let us know how that goes please.
    Good luck ...great case IMO

Did anyone else notice that the regular price is $109.99 and the sale price is $180.99?

And at the top it says "Limited Time Offer - Lian Li PC-V1000 at the lowest price online - $180.99"

I would much rather pay the regular price than the "lowest price online" of $180.99.

"Hey Lian Li we think the regular price is too low so we are raising it $71"

    - Edit - Dammit I just looked at the source and it says the regular price is $189.99.

Oh yeah and I like this case, inversion makes it cool, and possibly making it ready for BTX.

I too am in the market for a new case, and i have been lured in by these new 3-zone lian-li's. I am just saving up the money and i will, most likely, get one. I will probably wait until after x-mas to see if the price drops at all though. I want this one ... http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=11-112-511&depa=1

I did some research a few weeks back, and it seems that they offer superior cooling performance compared to regular mid-tower atx cases. About a 10 degree Celsius improvemnet in cpu(presshot) temps compared to an older lian-li case. Can't remeber the linkage though....i knew i should have bookmarked that page!

The only thing i don't like is that my new ultra x-connect blue uv psu will be hidden out-of-sight in the psu compartment for nobody to see. :(

Well, that's not all that hard, considering that most of the older lian-li cases cool like crap...

    Geeky,

So all the good reviews about most Lian's are false? I have a hard time to actually find a bad review about any Lian-Li case actually, and there's quite a lot of them out there.

To be absolutely clear as to what I mean, here's the dictionary definition of "false":
    1. Contrary to fact or truth: false tales of bravery.
    2. Deliberately untrue: delivered false testimony under oath.
    3. Arising from mistaken ideas: false hopes of writing a successful novel.
    4. Intentionally deceptive: a suitcase with a false bottom; false promises.

I would say that at least one of those definitions accurately describes most case reviews (not just ones concerning Lian Li), along with most power supply and cooling system (hsfs, case fans, water cooling, whatever) reviews.

Either through intentional deception (not likely in most cases), stupidity, or ignorance, the vast majority of case, power supply, and cooling reviews are absolutely worthless.

Note that i said good reviews, not all reviews.

I find Mediamans case/cooling/psu adventures very good for example and i learn a lot from them. What makes you buy a case if you think most of the reviews are worthless?

I'm afraid I have to half agree with Geeky here, I had a Lian Li PC 60 case and it was well built, high quality and had a great lay out but, thermically speaking it wasn't the best case in the world. I acheived much better case temps with cheaper cases and with much less noise.

While I dont have personal experience of the V1000 I have read reviews & comments in other forums where it's been said that the thermal zones just dont work & that the airflow is poor. If it was my money I'd go with a CM Stacker because its good value, quiet & has great airflow.

    Lian-Li cases look great.
    Lian-Li cases are well built.
    Lian-Li cases are overpriced.
    Lian-Li cases don't cool well.

Aesthetics vs. functionality -- you choose.

stacker owns that lian in cooling options, expandability, and price. ive heard from some that the inside of the case is layed out horribly, making it hard to manage wires. i second geeky, go with the cmstacker. imo

I have one of those cases, except for its black and it's the V1200 for EATX. I like it alright. I has really weak fan in the back so It doesn't draw out very much air. It does collect pet hair on the front of the case pretty quickly (And my case is on the desk). I don't know if I would buy it again. I thinks I would have bought the PC-V2100B. OR in your case the PC-V1100. Just my two cents. Talk to you later. Adam

Edit I wold have gone with the stacker except for it's Fugly
