Radeon 9600XT Vs. 9800 non-pro

edited November 2004 in Hardware
I was searching on newegg.com and found a Sapphire Radeon "9800 Atlantis" Video Card, 128MB for $140...compared to the Rosewill ATI RADEON 9600XT Video Card, 128MB DDR I was gunna get for $134.....isn't the 9800 a better deal?

Troyjinman PMed me about this earlier; I wasn't sure so I suggested he post it. The 9800 he's looking at is only a 128-bit card, so I'm not sure which one would be better... :-/

well, are you going to overclock the card at all? how do you feel about flashing the BIOS on the 9800 atlantis? It might---I emphasize MIGHT--be possible to flash the 9800 to a 9800pro....

but you will probably get a better oc out of the 9600xt if you want to go that way.

Both, at stock speeds, score about 4000 on 3dmark03.

If you want a 9600xt go with this sapphire, as the memory is better than on the rosewill and it is only a buck more.

My concern with the Sapphire is that it has a really, really ****ty cooling system.

i agree about the sapphire's stock cooling....however, that can be changed and the crappy memory chips of the rosewill cannot.

don't forget there is also a 9800se 128mb,128bit for $133 @ newegg to add some more confusion to the matter.

The 9800 non pro (not the se) is a much better card because it has 8 pipelines vs the 4 the 9600xt has.
