ok lets see where to start. ok i have an Antec Lanboy(the original). Im going to mod this case come next week, mainly because well parents getting me new comp parts for christmas. I have the PSU that come with the case it is a 350W Antec True Blue. I am wanting to know if it will be good enough to run all of the following:

DFI LanParty UT nF3 250gb
AMD Athlon 64 3400 1MB L2 cache (you know the rest)
1 GB of Kingston pc3200 ddr ram (X2 512 chips)
Sony 52x32x52x16 CDRW/DVD rom drive
Maxtor 40GB 7200rpm HD
5 80mm Aspire UV reactive yellow fans
Dual Voltage 6 channel baybus
2 Logisys 12" UV cold Cathode light

As for cables, i am using round cables on everything and, i am sleeving the next PSU or the one im currenty using IF its strong enough.Well I think that is about it. I am stripping this case after this weeked. Im going to paint the exterior black, front pannel black, well basically everything black. I dont know exactally what to do on the main chassis but i want it to either be black or yellow. but im not sure how i am going to get paint to stick to it. Another qeustion can you paint a MoBo tray that has the humps on it and then just put some brass stand-offs on the humps? or not? please help me out on this one im new to this site.

Depends on the videocard i think.

You'll do just fine with a Radeon X800 but you could run into troubles with a 6800 GT/Ultra.

I run a rig that's very much the same as yours, and i swear by the Fortron Source psu's. I'm using the FSP 530W that's available on Newegg for cheap. Best buy i have ever done.

You should be just fine with what you have i think. How much do those Cathodes draw from the psu if you could look it up in the specs of the Cathodes? They draw 12V from the psu, right?

yeah, i just got the specs:

    Specifications:
    Tube diameter: 3.0mm
    Tube length: 100mm
    Input voltage of inverter: 12V
    Output voltage of inverter: 680V
    Current draw: 5.0mAv
    Brightness: 28000~30000 cd/m2
    Lifetime: 30000 hours
Features: Compatible with Sound control module

you plug 2 lights into one inverter btw-so im guessing with those 2 it will only draw 12v or 24v??

Mackanz, I think he might be fine even if he had a 6800U... I've got the same PS (w/o the LEDs) in my SLK-3700AMB, and it has run the following:

    NF7-S 2.0
    2600m @ 2.7GHz
    1GB of PC3500 (BH-5 chips)
    6800GT @ 425/1050 or 1150 (can't remember which)
    2 7200rpm HDDs
    2 optical drives
    6 case fans (4 120mm, 2 80mm)

AND the PS is modded with Vantec Stealth fans (hooked up to the thermally controlled fan headers inside the PS), so it runs hotter than normal (which means less power than normal).

So I dunno if he'd need a new PS even with a really high end graphics card... :)

ok when i give my case a makeover(thats what like to call it lol) im going to pop open my PSU and replace the fans in it for better cooling. Will this help it keep its power output to the max???

The hotter a PS runs, the less power it can put out. Rather than replacing the fans in there, I'd just disable the thermal control. That way, they'll run at full speed all the time. The problem is that it makes the PS very noisy. IMO you're better off just leaving it alone. The stock cooling is more than sufficient to put out the rated 350w.

i dont know though it runs hot in the comp i got now:

Asus P4S533 (i dont remember the rest lol)
    P4 2.0 GHZ Oced to 2.4
    1.5GB Kingston pc 2700
    Asus Nvidia Geforce FX 5800
    1 12" cold cathode
    2 80mm case fans
    with rounded cables.

it runs hot on this setup, not sure how hot but its running decently hot.

the fans are thermally controlled. It's not a big deal.

Didn't AMD recommend 28 amps on the 12V for the Ultra? That's for a pretty basic rig.

Geeky, i never said he needs a new psu. Onlly that he might run into trouble with certain hardware.

well how do you disable thermal control or whatever you said?

    I'm running:

    P4 3.2c @ 3.65GHz (1.6v)
    1GB Ram (2x 512MB)
    4 hard drives (36GB raptor, 2x 120GB WD, 160GB maxtor)
    1 DVD-RW
    Radeon 9800 Pro 128
    M-Audio Revolution
    3x 120x38mm case fans (7v)
    2x 80mm case fans (12v)
    1x 90mm hsf (12v)

All running off an Antec True Blue 480.

Oh I know. :) I was just speculating that he might not, that's all. :)

I don't remember for sure, so I couldn't tell you without pulling my SL-350 and looking at it. And I don't have the system with that PS here with me at school. If you can wait a bit I'll be able to tell you.

But be aware that disabling it:
    a. Will void your warranty
    b. Will make the PS much louder
    c. May require soldering

and that opening a PS can be dangerous unless you know what you're doing.
