how would one go about removing an icon on the start menu in XP that isn't listed under the start menu configuration? its the "Dell solution center" and it has a segment all to itself. it won't let me delete it, or edit it out from start menu config. is there registry setting, or somewhere i can remove it from?

-edit- I searched the registry for "dell solution center" and deleted every entry i found. when i rebooted, it was gone. w00t.

...I was curious - what would Dell have thought if you asked the "Dell solution center" ? :vimp:

I came across the same problem after receiving a premade and configured box as a gift (pretty nice one I must say :)), replying because i've found a better remedy to the problem and I saw this thread on a google search trying to find an answer.

Here is how you remove links such as the Dell Solution Center and other OEM links from your start menu:
    1. Right-click the Start Menu and choose Properties
    2. Click Start Menu tab, 'Customize', 'Advanced' tab
    3. In the 'Start Menu items' list, uncheck Manufacturer Link option
    4. Click OK, and OK.
