Hello there. :)

My computer has been running rather slow ever scince my little sister went on the internet the other day. She's not exactly the best at realizing what to click and what not to click on websites these days. I ran Ad-Aware and Spyware Doctor...but they found nothing. Well anyways, here's my HijackThis log.

You have a worm. Please do an online virus scan here.

    http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

Reboot and post new hijackthis log and the results of the virus scan.

I've tried like...over 5 times to do this virus scan, but either my computer freezes, or my internet is too slow for it...is there any other way of removing whatever I have? Thanks. :)
  • Buckeye_SamBuckeye_Sam Columbus, Ohio

Yes, you can do it this way.

    Download and install AVG antivirus.

    http://free.grisoft.com/softw/70free/setup/avg70free_296a409.exe

Before you run it disable Norton. AVG does a very good job finding and removing trojans, usually ones that Norton misses.

I'm scanning now and I'm at 290 infected objects...should I just delete them all and post a HijackThis log?
  • kennyg123kennyg123 Ohio
    edited December 2004
Okay, so I scanned it, and when it finished it had 292 infected objects. It only succesfully healed 272...so I dont know what that means...if I just need to scan it again, or delete those viruses manually. I'll post a new HijackThis log for you. Thank you so much for your help. :)

My computer seems to be running better, but seeing that there's still trojans that can't be removed on my computer by this anti-virus makes me a little nervousn you know?

Just a few things showing up still in your log.

Place a checkmark next to these entries, close all browsers and windows, and have HijackThis fix them by clicking Fix Checked:

    O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [Microsoftvirus] sysoverload.exe
    O16 - DPF: {3A7FE611-1994-4EF1-A09F-99456752289D} - http://install.wildtangent.com/Acti...iveLauncher.cab

    Boot into Safe Mode
Restart your computer and as soon as it starts booting up again continuously tap F8. A menu should come up where you will be given the option to enter Safe Mode. To get back to normal mode just restart the computer as you normally would.

    Show hidden files
    http://www.short-media.com/forum/showpost.php?p=172588&postcount=3

Now search your system for this file and delete it if found.
    sysoverload.exe

Rerun an AVG scan while in safe mode. It may be able to clean up the rest of those infected files. If there's still some files it can't get rid of post the name and path of those files and we'll see if they can be deleted manually.

After the virus scan finishes reboot back into normal mode and post a new hijackthis log.

    Alrighty, here's the scoop.

I removed those files from HijackThis, and deleted them. Then I did what you said, and rebooted in safe mode. I found and deleted the file "sysoverload.exe". Then I did a virus scan and still have some viruses that wont go away. I made a notepad file of what viruses are still there, and here they are:

    ied.exe
    Belt.exe
    bi.dll (Trojan Horse PSW.Bipsy.A)
    biprep.exe (Trojan Horse PSW.Bipsy.B)
    bi.exe (Trojan Horse PSW.Bipsy.D)
    bi.dll (Trojan Horse PSW.Bipsy.A)
    biprep.exe (Trojan Horse PSW.Bipsy.B)
    bi.dll (Trojan Horse PSW.Bipsy.A)
    prelnsbiBI.exe (Trojan Horse PSW.Bipsy.C)
    polmx3.exe
    polall1t.exe
    wu1345rd.exe
    bi.exe (Trojan Horse PSW.Bipsy.D)
    bi.dll (Trojan Horse PSW.Bipsy.A)
    biprep.exe (Trojan Horse PSW.Bipsy.B)
    biS.exe (Trojan Horse PSW.Bipsy.D)
    bi.dll (Trojan Horse PSW.Bipsy.A)
    prelnsBI.exe (Trojan Horse PSW.Bipsy.C)

    ^^
[I'm not sure if those matter or not, because some files had the same name, so I thought I'd write them down.]

I'm not sure what to do with those, so I figured I'd let you look at them. Here's my latest HijackThis log incase you need it.

If these files are in your system restore then they won't be able to be deleted.

Flush your system restore, this will delete any restore points that you have but it will also make sure that any malware hiding in system restore will be booted off.

    Turn off System Restore:

On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
    Click Properties.
    Click the System Restore tab.
    Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Restart your computer, turn it back on and create a restore point.

    To create a restore point:

Single-click Start and point to All Programs.
Mouse over Accessories, then System Tools, and select System Restore.
In the System Restore wizard, select the box next the text labeled "Create a
restore point" and click the Next button.

Type a description for your new restore point. Something like "After
cleanup". Click Create and you're done.

Now scan again with AVG and see if it still finds them.

Well I did what you said, and unfortunantly they still seem to be there. Should I try it again?

Just manually delete those files. You may have to boot into safe mode to do it. If they won't let you delete them...

Right click on the file and select Properties.
    Uncheck the box marked "Read-only".
Try to delete the files now, or rename them first and then delete them.

Let me know how it goes.

Everytime I try to go into safe mode to delete any of those files, my computer freezes, and also, when I try it in normal mode, the search says it can't find any of the files I type in.

The other day I bought the anti-virus "PC-cillin Internet Security 2005" would that get rid of what im trying to? But just incase I didn't open it. So is that a good anti-virus or should I exchange it for something better?

I still can't figure out whats wrong with this.

Thank you very verrry much for your help. :D

I did the scan and it removed 5 objects, and 1 registry key.

Should I do a new virus scan?

It looks like we're getting it a bit at a time.

    Download Adaware's VX2 Addon.
    http://download.lavasoft.de.edgesuite.net/public/plvx2cleaner.exe

    Install it.
    Start Ad-Aware
    Go to “Add-ons”
Select the VX2 Cleaner add-on and click “Run Tool”

if it finds anything follow these steps.

    Select “Clean System”
    Reboot your computer
    Scan your computer with Ad-Aware
    Remove any VX2 objects detected
    Reboot your computer again
Run a second scan to make sure the files have been removed from your computer.

When you're done with that run AVG again and see what it comes up with this time. Please post a new hijackthis log, the results of the VX2/Adaware scan, and a list of any infected files that AVG could not remove.

When I went to the plugins on adaware after downloading and installing the file, it says:

"Bad Entrypoint" for the name, description, and creator. It wont let me run the plugin.

What version of Adaware are you using? The most current version that works with the addon is SE 1.05 It may not work if you're using Adaware 6.

Yes, I am using Ad-Aware 6.0. I thought it was the latest version.
  • Buckeye_SamBuckeye_Sam Columbus, Ohio

That's why you're getting the error. Download and install 1.05 and then reinstall the VX2 plugin and try it again.

    Your log still looks good.

Look to see if you have a file named ied_s7m.zip

    Maybe located at C:\ied_s7m.zip

If you find it, delete it and empty the recycle bin.

Then rescan with AVG once more and see if that took care of it.

I ran both of those online viruses, and now I'm down to one virus. Both programs detected the virus, but both we're unable to delete. They called it "unable to delete".

Thank you so much for your help so far. :)
