ok.. my here is my predicament.. I have a 4 gig drive and a 60 gig unit, I was formating the 4 gig drive today to install windows 200 on it because on the 60 gig drive is completely locked up by my aunt and i need to format it to.

Back to the problem, after formating the dirve i turned the computer off so that i could install win 2000 and i turn it back on, and guess what.. it wont post.

I've tried all i know what to do to fix it, i've reseated the memory and processor, tried to boot with only processor, memory, and video. that didnt work either. then tried what i think is resetting the cmos by pullying the battery and the jumper.

My computer did this last night and i just got mad and turned it off and went to bed. and this mourning ..It worked, i was stunned and relieved and now this computer is about to go flying out the front door.

i switched the ide cable from either drive cause for some reason they arent compatible with each other, and still no post and that seem to be what caused it last night but if it was a faulty drive, when i unhooked everything it would of posted, right?

Any and all help will be greatly apreciated.

it's possible that your motherboard or CPU just kicked the bucket...

What does it do when you turn on the computer? Does it beep at all? There's different beeps codes for different problems, may be listed in the motherboard manual.

Hard to say with what info I've gleaned but your power supply may be on it's way out. Did you say you tried to boot it with no drives plugged in? If you haven't tried that I would. Does your power supply fan spin up when started?
    My Best to you,

Ok, I ws messing with the computer again this mourning and I reaseated the ram and processor again and unplugged all ide cables and floppy cable. and attempted to get it to post, and now i'm getting continuous long beeps, I let it hit around 13 beeps to see if it would stop, it didnt, I believe its an award bios, and the model number is AB-BH6 which is an abit board. I couldn't find any error code listings on this board and I dont have the manual.

    Hi Airborne
Here is what I found on Award Beep codes. Perhaps you have bad Ram. You might remove one stick at a time or put it in another pc to test it. Ect.
    Best of luck,
