graphics card which best?

edited January 2005 in Gaming
i just got this BFG gf 5500 FX 256 mb. i just found out it's a low-end card. and i was thinking to get something in the mid range or anything with better deal to play future games.
probably fx 5700 ultra, 5900 ultra, or 6600 gt.
anyone got any experiences with these? or any suggestions?
thanks

all of the geforce fxs suck. period. it's just a question of how hard they suck. The 6600GT is good. I'd go for a GeForce 6800 (non-SE/LE, non-GT, non-ultra) for about $275-$300 tho.

Yep, the FX series blows. Go for a 6600GT, or 6800 (non-GT/Ultra).

No, don't hold back- tell us what you REALLY feel.

BTW I own a Radeon 9200...Am I safe from the wrath???? I am thinking of upgrading to an AIW to get the tuner (not sure exactly which one), and the 9600 series seem to look good on paper...

A 6600 or 6800 series card would probably be a safe bet. Radeon 9800 Pro cards can be purchased for reasonable prices these days as well. I agree with Geeky, a 6800 (128mb non ultra model) is probably the best bang for the buck. There are some fairly easy software mods that can be done to get some extra bang for free on those cards as well (16 pipe softmod)
