The Hydor L-30 pump (320gph) I put in about a year ago quit and I am wondering if a Ehem 1048 (158gph) will be enough. I would go with a 1250 but they are so damm big. :O Any one have any thoughts on this. Since I will be off work for a while I will finally get to move my rad outside the box too. (finally!:D)

I think a 1048 should be plenty of pump for a single processor system, Larry. You pay for an Eheim but you are buying a high quality pump. :)

    Larry,

The C-System 750 is the the thing to get i have heard. Smallest thing i have ever seen and it performs close or better than the 1048. You can use 2 of them as well :D

I have been using the Swiftec MCP650 I really like it. not to big and is over 300 gph. HERE are some specs.

You could get a ViaAqua, they're OK, I've found them for sub $20 at marinedepot.com...also that Rainbow Lifegaurd Quiet One 1200 is a pretty stout pump and can be had for $21 at Aquariumguys.com although with it you'll need to buy 1/2 FPT to 1/2 Barb adaptors to hook it into your rig (2 of them).

negative on the via, mine broke, as well as 2 of my friends who bought it had theirs break inside the same year. mine came messed up making a horrible nocking noise comming out of it, and stock its not the quietest pump either. you can do a mod to make it quieter but who wants to mod a new item. i would just get anouther hydor mine has worked for over a year and a half and still works.

who wants to mod a new item
Modding new equipment seems to be the mantra of about the nuts here...including me! :D;D

A layer of J.B. Weld around the collar of the impeller on the ViaAqua will shut it up quite nicely and the Quiet One 1200 already has a locked impeller stock and pushes more GPM at 4' head than a 1250 Eheim does at full flow...all for $21.

I'm using a DangerDen D4 (Same as the swiftech MCP650). Its a great pump. 10ft head, and lots of flow, even with restrictive blocks. There are two revisions though, mine is an earlier model, which is much louder (has a bit of a higher pitched whine to it). Cant be heard with these bloody deltas though :D

Just to add to what Madmat said, I have a via aqua myself and am quite happy with the performance. It may not be the ideal pump for the DD TDX restrictive block that I have but it was plenty cheap and provides ample flow for my water cooling needs. Modding the pump by securing the impeller head also makes a huge difference in noise from stock and is almost a must if you decide to pick up one. Just my 2c.

I want to thank everyone for their input. I considered most of the suggestions to some degree and finally decided to replace with the same pump so I don't have to change anything else in my setup. I will end up moving this setup to another case in the not too distant future (when I go 64) and will end up redoing everything at that time since I will be putting my new hardware in this case.
