I'm hoping you guys can help me find a frame of reference for folding on my new G5.

Here's what I've captured so far after folding for a couple of hours:

Anybody have any frame times from p1281_A21ext_d13_99phi they can share?

Velocity Squared is equal to 2 times the mass times gravity divided by the coef. of drag times the air density times the frontal area ;D

IE, the formula for the terminal velocity of a falling god damn Mac.

Prime, I looked on 5 of my machines and they've not done any of those wu's. Maybe they're mac only. What kind of points is it worth?

    It's a 72 point gromacs.

Works out to around 528 points/week or 3.14 points/hour. That's going by 1 representative frame folded that I used to check it with. Not fantastic but nothing to sneeze at either.

I'll let it fold for a week and then we'll get some highlights from various proteins.

I have only done 4 on 3 different machines. Looks like my laptop kicks the crap out of your Mac.;)

wewt.. let's hope tinkers do better or something.

Of course, I was installing software all day - heavy usage, yeah that's it! ;D

You can't really tell from a small sample. See how many points it puts up in a week. Or better yet, a month.

I hope you enjoy your new computer, prime. :)

Weird.. I looked at the logs this morning and the protein bailed at Step 16... Then it started over from scratch, and again - crashed out on Step 16.

Finally it downloaded a new protein and that one worked fine.

I'll get some logs in a few more days and get some frame time averages for this thing.

Yeah! They blew.... OOOPS! I mean sucked right by you! ;D Hey Prime, those units really don't have a good history of completing on Macs. p127X and p128X have a history of early ending. The Pande Group is looking into the issue further. It would be best to look at some of the more succulent Gromacs that are being released into the wild like p131X and p132X. Tinkers are not too bad on a G5, but a G4 will take forever. It's a compiler thing. FOLD, it does a body good!

Here are some numbers from my PowerMac G5 Dual 2.5GHz with 2GB RAM. Running 1 CLI client per processor. See if you can figure out which one is the sTinker! Semper Fold!

What program did you use to generate that comparison?

Oh don't worry about me folding - I'm an addict. :D

It comes directly from the queue data file. Viewable quite easily using the "swiss army knife of Mac folding", InCrease that was programmed by team member calxalot. Check it out, if you dare! ;)

Looks like I need to cut down on frivolous things like listening to iTunes, surfing the web, posting at forums, and checking email. ;D

Yes, blew right past us with 2.78x as many active members and only 1.79x as much weekly production... I'd still consider our team to be respectable. Plus, according to a poll on your site, 66.6% of your members fold on PCs in addition to their Macs. And it seems that you yourself have over 30GHz of AMD power in your tower...

I remember how funny it was to watch (well, not exactly WATCH) my brother's 866 MHz PIII walk ALL OVER my old 1.07 GHz G4. :D (folding, that is) I'm sure the G5's suck just as much. :D

:bawling: Why doesn't my school let us keep our laptops! :bawling:

Hey Prime, would you do me a favor and run Xbench 1.1.3 on your G5 and post the results? I'm about to run it on the G4...
