Anybody with experience of the Abit KV7

Has anybody got any experience with the Abit KV7? I just slammed together a folding rig with this board & on reading, it should have the option for a 6:2:1 divider. However when I go into the bios to overclock my Barton XP2500 that option ain't there. Only 3, 4 & 5 dividers are shown.

Anybody know what's up?

Yeah, I'm already on bios 18.

I have a theory though. I think I've been sold a KD7A and that its had its sticker removed. They were built on the KV7 pcb and had sticker put over the printed KV7 label. Also there are no sata ports on it either & the KV7 has Sata raid, I'll take the chipset cooler off this morning to confirm that its a KT400A chipset. If it is, this suckers going back with strongly worded letter.

Keep us updated, Jim. Was this from a no-name, start-up internet outfit?

    Hi Lynn,

No it was from Komplett.co.uk who are big retailers in Europe. It was a refurb board though, so what I think has happened is someone has scanked them. i.e ordered a KV7 from them, got it then rma'd it back but sent them a KD7A with the sticker removed. THey test it & it works so resell it but missed that it now longer has any Sata ports. It was certainly advertised as having them. I'll post pics later this morning.

What is interesting is that I flashed it to bios 18 & it didn't bat an eyelid about it being the wrong bios & it works fine.

    Jim,
Actually you better make sure it is a KT600 and not a KT400A.

I think you knew what you meant but your fingers had other plans. ;)

I was right!!! Under the chipset fan was a VIA KT400A, my digicamera can't take a good enough picture or I'd show you.

Needless to say, this suckers getting rma'd asap.
