Zalman Flower heatsinks

I am thinking of upgrading the wife's PC, and want it to be as quiet as possible. This of course leads to Zalman....anyone used their "flower" heat sinks? I'd be putting it on an Athlon XP or Duron, and prob. use a fan near it to at least move some air. Experiences, good or bad please!

If you use a duron, you should be fine. Cool as a mofo ;) I actually have no experience with the zalman.

On my dad's pc, I used an AX-7 + a very quiet fan. If you don't go with the zalman, make sure you don't get a thin fin HSF. They don't work well without a fair amount of air flowing thru them :)

I've talked to a bunch of guys who use them ant they work very well, not slk800 well, but fairly close, and with the bracket they come with to hold the fan, I believe it's easy to swap out an 80mm fan, for a 92 or 120.

Personally, I wouldn't use it. I've got the Zalman 92mm fan & bracket that comes with it, and it's fairly noisy in non-silent mode. You'd be better off with something else. For silent systems, I'd recommend one of Zalman's non-flower heatsinks, a Thermalright unit, or a Volcano 11... There isn't much else on the market that can handle the heat load of a high-power cpu with little airflow.
