Yep, my first ddr AMD system was the KG7-R (which is in SM20 btw), which uses the AMD 761 northbridge and a Via southbridge. There weren't many boards made that used the corresponding AMD southbridge with the 761 northbridge, but there were plenty of boards that were set up like my KG7.
The motherboards that were based on the original AMD 750 series sdram chipsets were also pretty reliable too. They just never supported a 133 fsb AFAIK.
