Looking to paint my lappy...

OK so not really going to paint the laptop but this quicksnap cover which is made of plastic. I have attached a picture of it. It is supposed to look like lava but it looks like wood. I mean how cool is that. a laptop that looks like it is made of wood. What is this the friggin Flintstones?

anyway, I wanted to go with a blue and greyish camo type design. Like the Germans used, but I have no artistic ability whatsoever. So how does a guy with no artistic ability paint a piece of plastic to look like urban camo?

any help would be greatly apreciated!!!

thanks in advance

You might look into immersible printing.

My step brother and I have been talking about doing this for a while, but it takes an investment we don't quite have at the moment to get started.

Anyway, you can pick from a number of designs or, if the shop allows, you can give them a design of your own and they will print it onto the film to be used. You will probably have to disassemble your laptop first, if not they might charge you to do it, and they could break your stuff.

no I wouldnt need to disassemble it. Its like a snap on piece of plastic that goes over the top. any recommendations on a good shop or what the cost is?

paint marker is a good bet if u use white primer at first...add a couple of coats of the white primer... then just use a magic marker of sum sort...it *should* work

Little OT, but... just to point out, that Dell quicksnap is, in fact, supposed to look like wood- it's a burl walnut pattern...

If you went the immersible printing route you would . . . unless you like dipping your whole laptop in a vat of water with many chemicals.

Use that new Krylon fusion spraypaint that bonds to plastic, tape up a design and spray it in stencil style

Noo... I'd never come out good enough. I'd go with the stick/clip on patters if possible.

I just helped my friend Krylon Fusion his plastic case. Looked ubersweet, wasn't sticky, and highly resistant to chipping.

No I ordered the Lava one, but that one looks just like the burlwood one.

    Please elaborate.

I have looked all over for these stick on patterns, but have been unsuccessful. Any idea where a guy might pick one up?
