Best MB for AMD Athlon 1000 or 1.2?
Hey guys, Hows it going today? Thought you all might help me out on this. Many brains are better than one searching. I'm looking to get an older MB for an AMD Athlon 1000 or a 1.2. But, I'm not sure which board will be the best for this proc.
Maybe a board that can take a 1000 or 1.2 proc. and be upgraded later. Obviously, It's not going to be the latest setup, but I want to use parts I already have. Thnx for replies.

If you want upgradability for a faster CPU later on then get a board with the nForce2 chipset. Chipsets are backwards compatible so almost anything socket A will be able to support that 1.0 or 1.2 CPU. I'm guessing its a 100FSB SDRAM board that you have now?
But anyway, the Abit NF7-S or DFI Lanparty or Asus A7N8X would be overkill for that CPU but it would allow you get the fastest Socket A CPU later on if you wanted.
Well I just read the part about using the sutff you have so thats out of the question. How about Abit's Kt133 board? This area is really before I was a PC enthusiast.
That is the real killer. Any socket A mobo will run the cpu.
I have an MSI mobo that will run either SD or DDR RAM. It has saved my but by letting me run a lot of old stuff.

Sorry, I didn't post it on the first.
mmonnin, I had the proc on an Asus A7V MB and it finally died.
You need a mobo with the KT133A chipset.
There might still be some of the MSI mobos out there.
Thnx guys, appreciate the discussion to help me figure it out.
FSB 100/133mhz
SDram/DDR (2 slots each - can use one or the other)
USB 2.0 4 ports
10/100 Ethernet
CMedia Sound CMI9738/4CH Sound
Can be found on Ebay ~$35
Oh, And the Asus A7N8X uses DDR, so thats out.
Here's another MB I was looking at also.. but it's only Ultra DMA 33/ 66.
MSI K7T Pro AMD Athlon Socket A Motherboard - MS-6330
So, I'm still looking to make sure what I can go with.
You all have been a great help with this and I thank you.
