Antec case bays

edited February 2005 in Hardware
I just got an Antec something or other 400. Having not experienced much contact with many cases, I'm slightly stumped.

It has to do with the 5.25 drive bays. I was trying to fit in a CD-RW and don't see any methods to affix the drive to the sides of the bay. I mentioned in another post that it's got a few odd holes and big thumb-sized holes on the sides of the bay.

You can see an example on newegg of what is essentially the same design, though mine has a front and side door with locks, and an additional set of 3.5 spots.

I have no problem mounting the 3.5 drives. Anyways, I'd appreciate any clues on how I'm supposed to mount these things.

Your case should have come with some rail-like clips that mount to sides of your 5.25 drives. The drive with the mounted clips will then slide into the bay and 'click' into position. Did you buy this case new? If you don't have the clips, we'll help you find them online.

I bought the case off the display shelf, I do have the clips, and was wondering what on earth they were.

Speaking of finding stuff online, is there somewhere I can get a key for these? It seems someone took off with the key to mine, at least I got a discount.....

Pardon me if I laugh! ;D;D Not making fun of you, really. We've all had our "Oh, DOH" moments when learning new tricks.

I would imagine that your case key is in a trash bin or on the floor of the assembly room at the store where you purchased your case. You can search for the manufacturer online and see if a key is available from them. You could also call computer shops and see if they have extras. There aren't many variations in case keys.

I don't mind at all :D , I found it quite amusing myself.

Anyways, to be fair it's been a very long day, and I'm glad something is actually as it should be for once.

I'll check around some local shops to see about keys, thanks for the patience.
