I just made a home page for www.joinfolding.com

What do you think? I was going for very simple and bold, since we just want to get the info across and i don't have a weekend to devote to webdesign :) Brian is getting me a smoother title banner for use later today.

I'll have the "Team 93" and "Recruitment" links up in the next hour.

I think it needs a little more "oomph" to the page. It's simple but not visually appealing where it makes me really want to look at it. I'm not saying that it needs fancy flash animation or anything like that, but the page as it is now isn't interesting. It's factual and concise, but doesn't grab you and make you go "wow, I wanna Fold."

Those are my honest thoughts. Please don't take them as anything negative because what you're doing is awesome.

I think it's a good page. It has all the info that someone would need without reading pages and pages.

Though, it could use the SM logo even though you've linked it to the forum.

But like I said, its a quick and useful page

Just a little thing, I think the 'causes' needs to be 'cause' under the Why is it important heading. Like I said, just a little thing.

I like it, for the most part. When I visit a page looking for information I prefer a simple, well-organized, no-frills layout.

Having said that, I'd have to concur with Buddy J and say it might need a "little more oomph". The ads and fliers may pique people's interest; the web page needs to close the "sale".

It's not far from being terrific, though. :)

I like simple as well, but it looks like one of those informercial type pages or something.

I added two visual elements to make it stand out a little more (background cog and dna strand in banner). Look ok?

Looks good Keebler, nice banner aswell :)

Short and to the point. Will keep it handy if I bump into someone asking about folding, before I give them the whole biology speech :D

Nice. "Oomphie", but not garish or overwhelming. :)

    just a little nitpicky suggestion:

I always set my window background to a color other than white (spending as much time at the computer as I do, it helps not to have blazing white folder views etc all the time) so pages that use the "default" background color never render right on my computer.. Im the only person I know who does this but it'd still be good form to specify white for the background, just in case :)

Looks good, the background cog adds some nice color. I'm not a big fan of the font used for "Fold for Life" though.

    Grand effort keebs!
I think it's pithy and to the point without meandering all over the place. I'm not a fan of the folding for life font either but I surely don't want to be nit-picky. It's a page that's easy to look at, makes the point, and is not confusing. It's easy to navigate although there isn't much navigation to it, which is a good thing in this case. You don't want to turn off the audience by throwing too much out there and getting a cramped feeling to it. I think it has a lot of balance, I give it a

I thinka different font all around should be made, I played a bit with some ideas in photoshop, but my craving for HL2 came over me :D

The black border like thing is kinda wierd too. Just my extra $0.02

It's a great start, a concept that can be built upon and improved. It's not only the staff and admins that are allowd to come up with this stuff. If you're handy in web design and think you can come up with something even more kickass, go for it and let us see it.

One thing to keep in mind regarding fonts, etc, is that Keebs is using the same basic layout as the pdf brochures which prime drew up. In marketing, a consistent "look and feel" is usually used to help in brand identification. People who go to the website because they saw the flier will know right away that they are in the right place because it "looks" the same.

That's not to say that there is anything whatsoever wrong with making up fliers on ones own. Something tailored for the audience to whom you are addressing the ad is likely to work the best. I probably wouldn't pass out brochures using a calligraphy font at a ballgame. Nor would I use the "Chiller" font for an ad to be distributed at a performance of the Bolshoi Ballet. :vimp:

Prof is right - that's what I was going for. However, I guess "branding" isn't incredibly important in this case. Prime just shopped up a new banner. Check it out and see if you like it better :)
