Firstly. How is it not cutting it?
Secondly. What are you aspiring to do?
Thirdly. When did you buy your radeon?

Have you changed TIM under the heatsink? If not, thats a start.
Right now i do have the original heatsink/fan on my 9700 and the card is overclocked but runs well. Not to warm either and i dont have any casefans at all.

If you bought the card in February, it sounds like a first-run card. IE, silicon rev1.

    Amongst the things they exhibit:

    -They run hot
    -They overclock poorly

I have an early march radeon, first revision. I know both of these are true.

I can only pull 333/333 out of my 9700 Pro before artifacting sets in.

I would probably just use the zalman heatpipe. I plan on getting one soon.

I was also considering a thermal take one just cause it has a fan but its not copper like the zalman. I know what to do! get the zalman and strap a 80mm on that sucker!

Same things here but my card is from September 2002. Stoneage almost.

The Zalman is not copper either. It's aluminum. The heatpipe itself may be copper, but the heatsinks are definitely aluminum.

I haven't been overly impressed with mine. It does OK, but I think the copper 1u hsf I have on the 8500 does much better. I'd suggest getting a 1u copper hsf and gluing it on.

i suggest getting the big golden zalman one...then u buy like 2-4 60 or just two 80mm stealth fans...u put epoxy the stealth fans onto each side of the zalman heatpipe...i think itll work...who is with me???

Unfortunatly that idea sucks IMO. 2 or even 4 (!) 60mm fans?

Any idea how much noise that makes? Cluster of cables in the middle of the case? The economy in that?

For that money, you will get a pump, small radiator AND a waterblock if you want.

No, if the stock cooler isnΒ΄t cutting it, RMA the card.

then if not...two stealth 80mm fans...one on top...the other on the bottom...whats so wrong about that idea?

The operation with the Zallman that I have seen work very well is to install a 120 fan in the side panel directly over the card so fresh air passes over both sides.

Unfortunately, the ZM80-A has more surface area than the ZM80-C, so it should cool better. And the rackmount hsf still cools better than either.
