This is Dual channel at pretty slappy timings. 2 volts on the chipset.
Folding, Prime and 3dmark stable so far. I´m working on the timings. 250 FSB is no problems at all in single channel mode.

    mmonnin,

Try and buy a pair of Buffalo PC3700 from that guy at Amdforums. They are sporting the Winbond BH5 chips and are soooo cheap compared to Mushkin, Corsair etc who have the same chips.

The scores above are on a pair of Twinmos PC3700 rated at like 8,4,4, cas 2.5 or so and was dead cheap. I think i got the pair for under $85. I really want to see these sticks on a Canterwood setup though.

Just by upping the multi to 10 gave me this bandwidth:

Damn i want a Barton that can do 2550-2600.

It's about time you got one of those.

I need to 166 my chip still. Nice bus speeds.

Thrax, i have the best sollution to make a 166 cpu out of a 133.

Give me a few and i post a pic. All you have to do is to paint 2 short pins at the back of the mainboard. Piece of cake.

Here you go Thraxters. This is the backside of the board, under the cpu socket. Crappy Canon camera but it´s only 2 of the pins that are connected. Upper and lower of them. Understandeable?

That still means I need paint. ;D

I'll just do the top of the chip when I get the cash for the goop. Good job on that mod though, man.

After about 297 tries on top pf the chip, i gave up. I tell you, it´s VERY tough to do it on the chip. This was MUCH easier.

Will probably work with a 2B pencil as well.

I can MP mod, l3 mod, and lock voltages on top of the chip in one go. Doing the top is no problem for me. It's easy.

Tape + Whiteout + Silver trace pen.

    Hey Mackenz,
When you did the mod on the board, did you have to cut any bridges on the chip itself? I've got 2 GREEN Bartons and am going to use the wire guide from ocinside to mod the multi's but am curious as to whether I also have to cut any bridges?

    Thanks,

    Flint

    Nope,

Just on the board. This mod is only for making a 133 fsb cpu to a 166 and the other way around. Other pins for 166 to 133 though.
No mod needed on the cpu at all.

Does the 133>166 mod only help with the nforce2 boards, or is it something that would help with any chipset?

    nForce2 only.

    nForce2 only.

Actually on the Ultra Nforce2 only as far as i have seen. With the C1 Northy. When i get my 1.2 back from RMA, i will off course test this as well. IF i get it back that is. The vmem mod i did didn´t look to good. Boy what a mess with solder!

I was going to save up for some PC3200 from Newegg or someplace. I have my $100 sign on bonus I was going to use but I want a warranty.

    Enlighten Me..

Why do you have to mod the chip from FSB266 to FSB333?
  • TheLostSwedeTheLostSwede Trondheim, Norway Icrontian

    Omega,

One of the few "flaws" with the nVidia ultra 400 is that in most cases, a 133 fsb wont go much higher than 215 fsb. If you change that cpu to a default 166 fsb by closing the 3:rd L12 bridge on the cpu or close those 2 pins i showed in the picture, you will have another ball game. If you got the memory, expect around 220-230 after the mod.

    Thanks Mackanz.

Strange - I remember a couple of threads @ XtremeSysytems that stated that the FSB333 CPUs had to modded to FSB266 to get them to clock higher than 200+

i did the pencil trick on my CPU to set it to 200 and now it does 230 stable. Before i was having trouble getting over 210.... really weird

Well that may explain why I'm having trouble coaxing this 1800 past 11.5x215 (although 2.5GHz may just be the upper limit of the chip too...)
