:sad2: Looks like one less machine on my folding farm.

It looks as if my b-in-law/sister's comp folded for a grand total of three weeks. I noticed today that I am down from 4 in seven days to 3 in seven days. Oh well...

This is just speculation, but I guess even after I told him about it he may have seen the "100%" processor usage and became panicked. These are the same family members that can have loads of malware/spyware/viruses on their computer and be totally ignorant of it. These are the same family members that ask me to fix their "slow" computer for no fee, which I've done way too many times already. These are the same family members that have loads of other crap on their computer running that really does slow the computer down.

I guess if their computer gets clogged with crap or craps out alltogether, I'm not going to be there to fix it for free... possibly not fix it at all  Three times already this year alone I've done this for them.

Do it for free as long as they keep f@h on the system and running.

I agree. That's the stipulation I put on systems that I cleanse or fix nowadays.

How fast is their computer? I've got an Athlon 850 that takes over seven days for the 600-Point jobs (it's crunching one right now, actually). Maybe you'll get a pleasant surprise in a day or two.

If not, then the next time they get spyware refer them to the most expensive spyware cleaner you can find. :vimp:

It's an Athlon XP 2200+ and I hope so... pleasant surprise.

I'd refer them to short-media, but my sister usually spends her time taking care of three kids and my b-in-law works about 80 hours a week in the natural gas industry. So, I guess it's still up to me. They just got cable internet last month, so I'm expecting a call anytime. ;)

I have an Epox Athlon 64 board, socket 754 that all I need for it is ram, cpu, and psu/case. I'm looking at a 2800+ for it and 512MB ram. After school is out for this semester I'll look into building it. Maybe 4 machines on my farm, possibly 5. :D

BTW- I haven't recieved any 600 pointers for nearly a month. All I seem to be getting are Tinkers (p638).

I just got a 600 point on a 533 Celeron I setup this weekend .. . I'm hoping it makes the deadline. It was its first WU too ... just strange.

Just got back into folding. Wasn't my fault it took so long. My isp just took forever to make my internet work after i moved and i'm still having problems with it. But that's for another thread.

Anyways i'm finally able to get new wus to work on so my cpu can start doing something good again. It sure hasn't had much to do for the past month or so. I'm glad to see some positive change as far as folding goes. When i last looked we werent doing so good but now that i'm back all that will change. :D

Keep up the good work team. :fold:

Oh man, I've always wanted a rig like that. I've got a major thing for Tualatins. Those things aren't cheap these days (not that they ever were ;)). Nice addition!

I know what you mean Gargoyle, they're awesome machines but the CPU prices are just so expensive. I got a semi-good deal on these so I can't complain too much.

amaranth uses SL6BY (tb1 stepping) Tualatins so it should overclock quite nicely though I need to play with the cooling solution and pinmod the sockets for some more voltage. The motherboard is a MSI Pro266TD Master-LR.

You might be interested that amaranth has a friend named tiamat:
    2x Intel Pentium III-S 1.4GHz SL5XL on modified Upgradeware Slot-T's
    modified Asus P2B-DS rev. 1.06-D03
256MB PC100 (running at 133) Registered ECC SDRAM (1GB of Registered ECC PC133 is in the mail)
    Antec Smart350 PSU
    Gentoo Linux 2004.3 (kernel-2.6.10-gentoo-r6)
pictured here on the test stand.
