Irq Problem

edited April 2005 in Hardware
Hi yall'
I'm having a problem w/ my laptop and have no idea where to start. My laptop just randomly gives me the Blue Screen and rebots for no apparent reason. I have been able to read that it says " irq_is_not_greater_or_less_than" It has done this at least 100 times and is killing me. Please Please help me! :bawling:

sounds like it is overheating... make sure none of the vents on the bottom/back/sides are not being blocked. you can try to take it apart and blow/clean out the hsf unit. or you can purchase one of those notebook cooling pads.

could also be a memory problem. memtest is your friend.

    Could be bad chipset drivers.

Post some stats on that laptop: processor, OS, video, network, etc.

And that error is very often from bad ram or bad drivers. . Might want to test that ram and list what VERSION of all your drivers your running for chipset, sounhd, video etc..

Make sure the laptop is updated with the latest chipset drivers.

    system- xp pro ver. 2002 ser,pack 1
Compaq evo mobile Intel Pent 4-M CPU 2.00 GHZ 1.99 ghZ 512 mb OF raM (Yes, a piece of crap...but ya gotta work w/ what u got)

It also says something about a memory dump on the blue screen.
Not sure if it overheating because it also does it sometimes when I start the computer up for the day and its not hot at all
