Virus messages in my email?

In the last couple days, one of my email accounts (hotmail) has been getting return notices about emails that couldn't be delivered. It says they have the Sobig.F virus in them. Only problem is, I don't know who these senders or receivers are!

Why am I getting them?

My Norton SystemWorks 2003 says my computer is in great shape, with no visible ports showing. Never had a virus EVER on this computer. So what's up here?

You may be infected. System Works 2003 needs to be updated witht the newest Virus Defintions and then your system needs to be scanned. I would use McAfee's freestanding Virus scanner (Stinger) first then update the anti-virus.

SoBig strips the header of the email and "fakes" a new one so some else may have the virus and the virus may be using your info in the headers...

I enclosed McAfee's Stinger. Place this file in a folder and strip off the PT1. The next post has part 2. Put that in a seperate folder and strip off the PT2. Then unzip it. The spanning will ask for the location of the second half of the file....

Sobig spoofs the sender email. Someone who has your email in their address book is the culprit.

Tim: You don't have the virus, somebody else does and they have your address in their address book. There is nothing you can do about it.

Okay. I guess this is what happens with this virus and how it gets to so many people. Now if my computer was NOT virus protected, I'd get it and start sending it out some more, right?

I wonder what those people are thinking who write viruses.

My Norton AntiVirus definitions get updated regularly. If it doesn't do it first, I do it manually. At least once or twice a week.

It won't do any good to block those email senders when I get them?
