digital cameras

edited April 2005 in Internet & Media
I've decided to take the plunge and get a digital camera. I'm not a pro nor do I intend to become one. I'm looking at a Minolta dimage Z2. It gets good reviews but one reviewer states that as full featured as the camera is, he has had trouble with it's jpegs. Says they won't open on his computer. He's using PhotoImpact 6.0. I'll be using Photoshop CS. Anyone know anything about this?

Almost sounds like a computer problem, not a cameral problem. Is he able to open his camera's jpeg files with Windows Media Player, or the XP built-in slide view option in Windows Explorer/My Computer? If the answer is yes, it's probably not a camera problem; if no, then it probably is a camera problem.

    Ron Matt,

May I suggest you also take a look at the CANON A95 as it is in the same price range. Fully automatic...yet fully configurable in manual mode. I have the A75 and am extremely happy with it. The Minolta looks like it has a better lens though.

Here is more reviewage on the Minolta dimage Z2.

And reviewage of the Canon A95.

I've got the Fuji Finepix S5000 and love it.
My wife would never even pick up our film camera Canon T80, because she just got confused on how to use it. Now, I can't get the Fuji away from her!
    It's 4 MP & 10X zoom also.

    Beach Camera
    That's where I got my S5000.
