Now, I hate to sound like a newb, but I came across this in some of my class reading and I was just curious if this is true, I thought I heard that some of the newer Pentium4s emitting massive amounts of heat and therfore needing lots of power.

Is this a true statement?

that statement is probably based on the OLDER AMD chips and old pentium.

I dont beleive so. I think they were just citing an example, not a fact.

hmmm, could be. Just as an fyi though, it's not old curriculum or anything, it's dated 2002

Up until the P4, it was true. The P4 is about on par with the Athlon, except for the 3.06, 3.0 and 3.2GHz P4s, which are massive power hogs and use far more power than any other x86 cpus
