ATI Catalyst 3.7 Drivers Released
Free 12% increase in performance? I'll take it
Today, ATI released the newest series of display drivers for their graphics cards products. The ATI Catalyst 3.7 drivers incorporate a whole slew of bug fixes related to many 3D applications and games.
Users should see slight improvements throughout all benchmarking software (nothing insane, but a few points) and improved reliability.
Quote from Terry Makedon, ATI Senior Product Manager of Software:
CATALYST 3.7 will be a general driver update with some performance boosts, lots of stability improvements and perhaps a new feature or two. CATALYST 3.8, on the other hand, will be a big one. It will have some very innovative new features that we've been working on for a long time.
Pixel Shader processing has been enhanced across all of our DX9 products. As a result, certain PS 2.0 ShaderMark tests are now running as much as 12% faster.
New Feature: Triple Buffering
The CATALYSTβ’ driver now provides a Triple Buffering Option. Enabling Triple Buffering has the potential to increase performance under certain conditions. Please refer to the help file of the feature for additional information. This new feature is located in the OpenGL Compatibility Settings tab.
The list of supported hardware is the same as the Catalyst 3.6's (Radeon 9800 Pro -to- Radeon 7000)
Release notes are available here: Catalyst 3.7 Release Notes
The drivers can be downloaded @ http://www.atitech.ca or http://www.driverhaven.net

And good to FINALLY see triple buffering with the 3.7s.
Not supprised to be honest, major ranting was going on to get them put into the next Cats a while ago.
NS
I don't touch omega drivers with a 10 foot pole, so YMMV.
No problems as of yet... other than hitting 18,008 3DMarks
There are threads over @ Rage3D.com regarding the "proper" installation of new Catalyst drivers...
Curious also I did it 700MHz slower, 39MHz slower on the FSB, 22MHz slower on the memory, and with a 9700 Pro!
//EDIT:
Couldn't resist ragging on Intel scores.
2.4C @ 2.95 (running stock Intel cooler for the time being).
Memory is running 1:1 with the FSB (490 MHz memory 3-4-4-7).
The 9800 Pro is a Sapphire 9800 Non-Pro that's been BIOS modded to the Pro model (380/340)
As well, I never did format when I switched over from my old Ti4400 to the 9800... and it's Windows XP with a boatload of crap installed (Cat 3.7's as well).
I'll format one of these days.
I'm getting there... just you wait until the water kit comes in...
Talk now Geeky. Mackanz couldn't beat me with a 2.4GHz Athlon XP, and a 230MHz FSB. I beat him at 2.3 with 211.
As for you mistar SimGuy, my 9700 Pro was clocked 40MHz slower on core, and 20MHz less on memory. And besides, when you get that water kit, I'll have one too.
