Problem with graphics card

edited September 2003 in Hardware
I have a really annoying problem with graphics on my machine... i suppose this problem could go in software but who cares. To the point, whenever i try and install nvidia drivers on my computer, i go through the install fine, restart and then get past the windows xp loading screen and the computer blue screens and re-starts. The only way i can then get into my computer is by going into safe mode and uninstalling the drivers. I have no idea how to fix this and it is really pissing me off now, having to look at a screen with 1024 x 860 res and 60hz refresh rate. Anyone help me get to the bottom of this? My system is:

Abit NF7-S 2.0
Geforce 3 TI200
Windows XP Pro
512MB memory....
XP2500 +

don't presume you need to know anything else...

thanks for any help

I think it is a problem with the nforce drivers and geforece drivers clashing. how the **** does this work seeing as they are both made by the same ****ing company....... please don't tell me the only way to fix this is by buying an ati card.

I'm going to suggest the only thing I know of that might fix it if it's software-related (some of you have probably guessed what that is already  )

    Here it comes...

Format C:\ (return) and re-install
:D

Try this, it works when I have that problem with my gf3

    Uninstall the drivers.
Let windows install it's own drivers
    Go to the device manager
Right click on your video card, tell it to update drivers
    Choose "Install from list/specific location"
    Choose "Don't search..."
    Click "Have Disk"
Point towards directory the drivers were installed in.
