URGENT HELP! WindowsXP Activation

edited May 2005 in Science & Tech
Hey everybody im in urgent help. Im not asking about the actually program it has, i already have it and its applied already (i think). Thing is.. i dont know if it *DID* apply or not. What my question is my Windows Anti Activation applied? Here are some symptoms...

Symptoms that it IS applied

1. when clicking my account to log in, at the user selection screen, it doesn't show the activation thing anymore
2. bottom right corner doesn't show "activate now!" or it doesnt pop up

Symptoms that is might NOT be applied
1. going to Start > All Programs .. "Activate Windows" is *STILL* there. Along with windows update / catalog / program updates. Maybe even if it bypasses, it still shows it.. i dont know, i hope i get it through or ill be locked out...forever :(

The reason why this is urgent cause i dont wanna be locked out of my system with no operating system :( I used it before, worked fine. Here lemme go through what ive been through in the past. It was HELL. lol.. (people always tell me, if you can't afford things, and pirate, dont feel so bad. But im doing it anyways, cause im poor. heh. )

Read carefully, every small step i did, might be the answer to the Question!
1. A few months ago, i had Windows 2000. the WPA (windows anti activation) worked fine, i went for like 2+ months. But comp was lagging so I had to reformat...

2. Everything was there in the C drive, like before. Programs, music, etc. But to use those programs i had to re-install (also the users deleted) No problem there, i installed and made new users. (for my bros, dad, etc). I also had to use WPA again. I used it when it was like 13 days left....

3. i left windows update on, it finished downloading. SP2 is ready to be installed, and i didnt want to install that so i ignored it. I let the little pop up, stay there.. i just ignored it. I dont want SP2. so... i disiable it by going to START > RUN > MSCONFIG > and took it off from the startup. Also, i checked the box that said "dont check for updates". A few days later (today), it said "update has been installed". Which isn't SP2, im still on SP1 (yeah i checked at system info).. so it installed something else i dont know what that something else is... Anyways, whatever THAT did, it made the activation pop up AGAIN. 2 days left. So my guess is...

1. the update installation brung the activation crap up again cause it installed something new for windowsXP.

or

2. the first time i did WPA, it didn't do it correct.

*NOTE * I have like 3-4 different versions of WPA. I used WPA, restarted, and it still said "wanna activate?" when i was logging into my account. So i used a different version 2.0.0 (think its the latest). Then i restart for changes to take place. and im *Not quite sure if it did apply the WPA*. Here is what im assuming... (correct me if im wrong)

Maybe even if it bypasses and no more of the activation crap, it still shows "Activate Windows" in the Start > All Programs ? i dont know, i hope i get it through or ill be locked out...forever :( Please tell me what is up people lol. Please.. im dying.. without my computer, my life is boring. I am in need of desperate help. If it isnt applied, and the 2 days are up im Gone with no operating system. If it is applied, but it shows that "windows activation" in start > all programs.. then i guess its just trying to scare me. So if some of it confused you, here are my final questions or questions from above.

1. Is my Windows AntiActivation working? All symptoms of activation are gone except the one in start > all programs. "Activate Windows" is there. Is it there just to scare me? but my WPA is really working right?

2. Is WPA 2.0.0 the latest version?

3. I hear XP Corporate pro (a different xp, not home) doesnt use activation. VLM/VLK doesnt either. Whatever that means. Can somebody elaborate, shed some infomation about all that?

please people.. if it is working, then i have nothing to worry about. That "activate windows" is there just to scare me.. If it isn't working. Then i have 2 days left... i will worship you...Ill appreciate it so much

If you're not sure, call MS's 800 number and confirm it with them.

Is this a legal copy of WinXP?

Stop worrying. Your windows is activated.

    1. The links to activate windows and windows update will always be there even if you activate! They are just shortcuts and do not go away when you activate.

    2. If you hit activate and it didn't come back telling you that your key is invalid, then you are activated.

    :)
