My major complaint about Battlefield 1942 was that the players weapons sucked. It never felt like you were firing anything and you'd never hit anything. It seems to have been solved but I can't get the demo to run on anything except all low settings, it crashes otherwise.
i may just be me, but i don't see what all the fuss is about. maybe the real game will be better, but i am not holding my breath.
i mean how many times do you have to shoot somebody before they die? i swear i have emptied a full clip into somebody at close range and they just keep coming. i have tried short controlled bursts, but that isn't enough either. but when someone shoots in your direction, you get wasted pretty easily it seems.
plus i think the control system (while similar to the other batllefield games) is moronic. why do i have to hold down "ctrl" to crouch? it should be press once to crouch and then press again to rise. i could go on forever, but suffice it to say it seems like all they did was create new environments and barely tweaked the previous battlefield UI. i am thoroughly dissapointed.

completely...
also i think if they were going for a realistic war experience why dont they just make it real one shot kills.... im still waiting for a game like that, cuz if in real life its not who can shoot eachother in the head or neck its who can put a hot bullet into the other persons flesh first.

exactly - if you shoot someone ANYWHERE with a gun even one time, they WILL fall to the ground!!!!! lol theyre not just gunna get weaker with every shot.. omg all games are like that. maybe one day they'll come out with Battlefield Realistic and it might be more fun.
obviously not- all this star wars, anime, and fake crap. omg i cant stand all of that! its like grown guys playing 3yr old kid games. really annoying....
Well, those games are fantasy for fantasy sake, I don't have a problem with that. It's games that market themselves as the 'most realistic war experience ever' and essentially it's just gilded realism.
Well I finally got the full version last night and it is frickin sweet! The maps are HUGE, and the graphics are awesome. Anyone in a clan needing members?
Browsing servers takes forever as the scroll bar wants to take a whole second to refresh each time you move it. I am unable to do anything smoothly.
wow i couldn't agree with you more. It takes FOREVER to load the game, the menus ARE slow as hell, and it basically refreshes the whole thing every time you move the slider to select a server!!!!!!!!! Now it says my cd key is bad (hmm wonder why), so I cant play anymore.
I just got done playing the demo. I played multiplayer with a friend (Skryking). We spent 4 hrs learning all the new things... Artillery, Scanning, Supplies... AWESOME!!!!! I love the ability to zoom in from the satellite view and see people running around during an artillery strike!!!
Flying will take some getting use to... I have become a fairly good chopper pilot in BF: DC but this is totally different.
My copy of BF2 should be on my door in a few days... can't wait.
what do you guys think about it because when I play bf2 I want to be able to play it on High Quality without lag.
3g processor
512mb ram
Stupid integrated intel 128 mb graphics card(jackin my 512 when I play) :shakehead
I want to rock this game until it breaks. BF2 seems so fun but when I try to run it It the screen goes black and back to the desktop I think it is the lack of the card.
I hope the x700 will work I really want to play this game really bad

You're gonna need atleast a gig of ram to run those game smoothly (especially BF2). The X700 will play it (preferably X700 XT)but I'm not sure if at full res and details and a bit of AA (haven't really been up to date with video cards, benchmarks, etc).
I don't see any difference in the helicopter or flight of the aircraft, the only thing I see different is with the aircraft being a bit different in the camera view.

X700 should work just fine. It plays pretty much flawlessly on my 9800XT at 1024x768 with all options set on high. Looks AMAZING too. I do however notice a slight drop in framerate when there is a LOT of action on screen... Like when there are 20 mootherf****** on one control point and a helicopter and jet divebombing it during an artilery strike.
So I set all options to medium, Except for texture, geometry and terrain. Those I have left on "high". I can barely notice a degredation in graphics and no framerate drop whatsoever.
Do you see the intro movies at all? try disableing them if you dont see them.
I have a friend that gets a BSOD right after the splash screen every time he tries to launch it on his PCIe X850XT. Tech support said that specific card was not on the list of specifically supported cards.

omg i TOTALLY agree!! its retarded!
Links are all mangled...
I can't wait for Operation Flashpoint 2 to be honest. I prefer realism over erm... stuff...

Amazing Graphics, on my system I am able to play with everything max(minus AA which I have set to 2x in my drivers ATM), and 1024x768 resolution.
The sounds are fantastic!
Fun as hell.... once a few bugs are worked out this will be the best shooter ever.
The bads....
Takes forever just to get into a game.
Menu's are slow when it comes to network stuff.
That damned optimization thing.

http://www.tweakguides.com/BF2_3.html see the section labled disabeling intro movies.
And yea, your gonna want a gig of RAM.
