You can look up prices for most computer parts on www.newegg.com That's also where many of our members order their parts from.

I think you'll find that your CPU is going to cost a pretty penny. If you're concerned about cost, I might recommend bumping that down to a 64 3200+ Venice core. A 3200 is at about that place where cost vs. speed converge right now before the cost starts rising exponentially per performance boost, IMO.

//edit: Ditch the floppy, mate. You can do it! ;)

And you want DDR, not DDR2 ram.

It seems that the Athon64 X2 4800+(2x 2.4ghz/1MB L2) have not been out yet??? Isn't it?

Sure they're out but they cost about $1,000. :wtf: I've never spent more than $1,500 total to build a new system.

for about the same price as that x700pro, you might consider getting a 9800pro instead. 9800pros are a little bit better, and about the same price on Newegg. I have a Saphire 9800pro 128mb, and I'm really happy with it.

dude wake up.... he's getting a pcie system and you are telling him to get an agp card. not to mention that the x700pro and the 6600gt are slightly faster than the 9800pro.

not true.... x700pro/6600gt are slightly faster than a 9800pro. since the 9800pro is slightly cheaper it is a better value, but not faster...

it's a mute point anyway since he wants pcie!!!!

As stated above, there really is no reason to compare as you're choosing amongst PCI-e cards, not between PCI-e and AGP. Since there is no 9800 in PCI-e format, the discussion, again, as stated above, is mute.

And, since I have it, I'd get the A8N-SLI Deluxe. Other than the piss poor design of the now universal SATA connectors, the board has been rock stable. But don't mind me, I've had the same problem with SATA cables causing an intermittant problem in both this board and an NF7-S. IMO, it's just crappy design, but since it's been universally adopted and has nothing to do with the actual performance of the board, just ignore me!!
