Tex's hardware tip of the day
Do you guys that swap parts around often, clean out all the old crap in the devices list? Or also after a fresh install and you finally have all the drivers in place etc... I'm sure most of you serious guys do but maybe some don't so here goes....
Go into device manager and at the top under "view" enable "show hidden devices". Now go through every section of the device manager one by one from top to bottom and find and delete all the old hardware stuff thats no longer installed. It will be lighter in color. These are the "ghost" devices and keeping this list cleaned out of old doodoo (thats a tech term quit laughing) will help your future hardware installs come out cleaner.
