Ok, am I missing something or can I not stick a faster stick of ram on my mobo even though it says only up to DDR-400, they are making DDR-600 and DDR-800, whats the deal???? is my mobo pullin the wool over my eyes? and whats the deal with DDR2 is that an intel only thing??? :scratch:

    At the moment, DDR2 is an Intel only thing.

    Buying memory rated faster than your MB spec calls for is mostly useful just when overclocking, unless you MB allows you to run the memory bus at a higher speed than the CPU FSB.

    My niece has an MSI board with an Athlon 2000+. The CPU runs on a 133/266 FSB, meaning she needs at least PC2100 memory. She has a setting in the BIOS which allows her to use PC2700 RAM at its rated speed. How much good this actually does her in "real world" situations is debatable.

    I have a gigabyte K8NS-Pro, running a Athalon 64 2800,(i know its dated but it works).
